Communities across the nation are confronting the frightening reality that many of their children are being physically and sexually abused.  The trauma associated with this abuse has adverse lifelong implications for every child.

Recognizing that the system of child abuse investigation was inherently flawed and citing lack of communication between Social Services Agencies and Law Enforcement Agencies,  Child Advocacy Centers became the solution.   CACs were introduced and opened in the mid 90s across the country to bridge this gap.   The Children’s Advocacy Center of the First Judicial District opened its doors 22 years ago.   CAC1st has been providing multiple services to children in Carter, Johnson, Washington and Unicoi Counties in a child friendly environment.
